What are Beach Sweeps?

Each year, twice a year, Clean Ocean Action unites thousands of volunteers to clean up marine debris and litter across 80+ beaches in New Jersey.

The Beach Sweeps have grown from a small 1985 cleanup into one of the world's largest and longest-running coastal stewardship efforts, mobilizing thousands of volunteers to remove millions of pieces of debris from New Jersey's shores.

Beyond cleaning beaches, every Sweep generates valuable data on marine litter, strengthening policies that reduce pollution and protect wildlife at the local, state, and federal levels.
